0 or 1 per month. We hold our Pack meetings at 6:30 PM at Stoner Creek Elementary's cafeteria. At these meetings we review upcoming events, celebrate our accomplishments, and learn something new. These are fun meetings where all of our dens can mingle and get to know one another.
1–2 per month. Den meetings are coordinated by your Den Leaders. There are scheduled days for using Stoner Creek Elementary's cafeteria with other dens but meetings can be anytime and anywhere. These meetings are where the Scouts in a Den can work to complete the requirements for their rank.
Quarterly. There are Pack hikes across the entire year at the closer state parks, local city parks, and Boxwell Scout Reservation. We love to explore, observe wildlife, and be outside together. Look at the calendar to see where the next one will be.
Fall & Spring. Camping is one of the most exciting activities our Pack gets to do. We get to let go of the electronics and experience nature while having an adventure and learning new skills. Some of our campouts are just our Pack or even just a Den. While others are Camporees put on by our District or Council. In the past we have camped across Boxwell Scout Reservation in Wilson County and Long Hunter State Park.
June. Family Scouting at Cubworld at Boxwell and the Cumberland District Day Camp are great ways to finish the program year on a high note. The Day Camp offers the opportunity to work on advancements and to have fun doing the things Cub Scouts love to do like shooting BB guns and archery! Family Scouting at Cubworld is when scouts get to experience an outdoor overnight stay in the great outdoors, discovering nature, Scout skills, aquatic activities, and much more.
February. All of our Scouts love to compete in the spring in the Cumberland River District's Pinewood Derby. The Pack provides pinewood car kits for Scouts and friends and family to build their cars. We host a build workshop to help racers get their car ready for the big race. We race our cars against each other with the fastest in the Pack competing against other Packs in the district. It's a highlight of the year!
2+ per year. Pack 253 takes the opportunity to teach youth the importance of community service whenever we can. Whether creating gift bags for local teachers or picking up litter we do our best. Every May we participate in a special day of flag placement for Memorial Day, to honor those who served in our nation's armed services and are now laid to rest.
To keep the Pack running smoothly, our leaders attend Pack committee meetings as well as District meetings.
Monthly. Our Committee supports the pack's program by making decisions scheduling, events, and coordinating with our district & Council. Leveraging the leadership of the “Key Three” we plan and execute our yearly activities to the best of our abilities. Meetings focus on Pack needs, financials, and future planning.
Monthly. Cumberland River District Roundtable is a place for adult leaders to gather, network with other Scouters, receive supplemental training, and learn important district and council information. The monthly event provides program topic guidance, information about district/council events, and constructive suggestions for unit leaders. It is a fun learning environment that creates excitement around the coming month of activities and program for unit leaders to carry back for implementation in their units. These meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month at Cumberland University. See the district's Facebook page for dates.
Fall & Spring. The University of Scouting is an adult leader’s learning adventure! It is an action-packed, fun-filled single day of supplemental training where you choose the classes you wish to take. Classes are led by experienced volunteers and professionals who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts.
